Welcome Back to School!
We are very excited for the beginning of the school year. We hope that you are as well. The first day of classes is Wednesday August 25th. As you and your parents get ready to come to junior high school we hope that you remember we are always available to answer questions. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Cockley (7th grade counselor) or myself with anything that is making you anxious about junior high school.
Registration/Schedule Pick Up for 7th graders will be Thursday, August 12, 2010. We ask that students whose last name begins with A-L come to McCormick from 9 am - 11 am. Students whose last name begins with M-Z please come to McCormick from 1 pm - 3 pm. We have mailed your registration paperwork to you earlier this week and ask that you return it on the day of registration. Students can pick up their class schedule and locker combination ONLY if they return all of the appropriate paperwork. Parents you are welcome to join your student for registration/schedule pick up - but it is not necessary. Remember to allow yourself time to tour the building, find your classrooms and move in to your lockers.

In the Arrowhead Issue 3 link below you will find a rough list of school supplies that our 7th grade teachers have identified (page 2). Please remember teachers may add to this list or may not use everything - but it gives you a good idea of what you might need.
Many of you are excited and ready to participate in athletics here at McCormick. Remember - in order to be able to participate in any athletics you must have a physical on file that is dated after June 1, 2010. If you haven't gotten your physical - now is the time. The following is the list of sports we offer at McCormick during the Fall season and what the starting dates are for each. It is important that you are at the first day of practice so that you get your required number of practices in and can participate in the first game.
Football
First Practice - August 16th 8:00 am on Field
Parent Meeting - August 12th 6:00 pm in cafeteria
Volleyball
First Practice - August 16th 9:00 am Gym B
Parent Meeting - August 16th 12:00 pm in auditorium
Cross Country
First Practice - August 16th 3:00 pm in front of school
Parent Meeting - August 16th 4:00 pm in auditorium
If athletics are not your thing, we offer many clubs and activites. Below you fill find a link to a list of all of our clubs and activites we offer. There will be a club rush during orientation where you can sign up for what interests you.
Have a great end of summer. Please remember to stop by and tour the building at least once before the first day of school. Also will you please look at my blog question (click on multmedia blog above) and let me know what you think. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you and your families this school year.

One week before school starts we hold a new student orientation here at McCormick. The purpose of the evening is for you and your parents to become familiar with the building structure, expectations, to meet teachers, and to meet fellow classmates and their parents. Again, this event is organized by your last name. We hope that you and your family can join us for this event. Times for the orientation are as follows:
